Build a Virtual Tour

You've collected data in the field and now want to make a map that has hotlinks to the detailed data and/or photos. Here' how:

  1. Create a table in Excel that has columns for x and y location and the name of photo, and the name of the file with the text description in it.

  2. Save table as Tab-delimited text.

  3. In ArcView, Choose Tables from the Project window, and click Add. Then locate the file you just saved in Excel.

  4. Make a View active, and choose Add Event Theme from the View Menu, choose your X and Y columns appropriately!

  5. Choose Theme->Properties and select Hotlinks. The dialog box will now look like this:

  6. Choose the field with the link, and what action to perform.

  7. That's it! Try it out! (Make sure that your images and text files are in the same directory as your project file)
